The Ultimate MDW Appetizer Has Arrived

👨‍🍳🧑‍🍳Happy MDW Weekend, Chefs!

The grills are officially smoking, the coolers are packed to the brim, and somebody’s already hovering too close to the snack table before guests even arrive. 🇺🇸🔥🍷

We kicked off the holiday spread earlier this week with those sticky Soy & Orange Marinated Pork Chops, followed them up with a potato salad worthy of its own backyard standing ovation, and baked beans built to steal valuable real estate on the paper plate.

Now we’re closing out the week with something bright, herby, and wildly snackable.

🍅🧄 Marinated mozzarella swimming in silky olive oil with garlic, lemon zest, herbs, and sun-dried tomato energy that tastes like golden hour drifting across the Italian coast.

The kind of thing people “just try once” before mysteriously parking themselves beside the platter for the rest of the afternoon.

🇺🇸🔥Fun Fact: Memorial Day Weekend launches America’s backyard BBQ season, with millions firing up grills for burgers, hot dogs, cold beer, and marathon patio hangs nationwide.

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds ciliegine mozzarella balls, drained
1 tablespoon dried oregano
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 lemon, zested
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, julienned
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes, finely chopped
1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
Red pepper flakes, to taste
Pinch salt, if needed
3 cups GRAZA olive oil
Crostini or sliced bread, for serving

Step By Step

1️⃣ Drain your mozzarella, then tumble it into a large jar with oregano, garlic, lemon zest, sun-dried tomatoes, basil, parsley, rosemary, red pepper flakes, and a pinch of salt if needed. Pour in enough olive oil to completely cloak every mozzarella pearl in glossy goodness, then seal and shake like you’re dressing a late-night pasta at a tiny wine bar.

2️⃣ Slide the jar into the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Overnight is even better. The herbs soften, the oil perfumes itself, and the mozzarella turns dangerously snackable.

3️⃣ Spoon onto crostini, scatter through chilled pasta, or serve straight from the jar beside cold white wine and people lingering too long around the kitchen island. 🍷
