Hot Chocolate: Spiked Three Ways

Hot chocolate is already one of the best cold-weather drinks on the planet, but there is a whole world of options beyond just putting marshmallows in your mug. Make things just a little more festive with these three ways to spike your hot cocoa this holiday season.

Base

Makes 2 servings

1.5 cups cold milk
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/8 cup unsweetened cocoa

Orange Hot Chocolate

Pinch of cinnamon
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
4 ounces Grand Marnier

Garnish with a slice of orange peel.

White Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Substitute white chocolate cocoa for unsweetened cocoa above. Then add:

2 ounces peppermint schnapps
2 ounces white chocolate liqueur

Garnish with a whole candy cane.

Mexican Hot Chocolate

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
4 ounces tequila

Top with whipped cream.
